I love the woods. I go to them as often as I can and look for all sorts of arthropods (insects, spiders, millipedes, centipedes, etc.). The most common ones we get are Sigmoria millipedes and Bess Beetles, I'd have to say. ReplyDeleteI'm a grad student at Cornell U and I'm planning doing my thesis on Bess Beetles! The only problem is that I live in upstate NY and these beetles aren't too common around here. I am hoping to spend some time in the south (Carolinas, Tennessee, etc.) to collect some this spring and I was wondering if you could give me suggestions for parks or other areas that I could collect in? It seems like you have fantastic luck catching these beetles so I figured you would be the person to ask!
